Lumela Afrika

Lumela Afrika

The word “lumela” means hello in the Sotho language. This business focuses on empowering women from the townships of Orange Farm, Sharpville, Evaton and Sebokeng.

Lumela Afrika is also involved in supporting children who have been abandoned and who are living with HIV. They make financial contributions, and also donate their products as gifts to the Angels Aid and The Right Now Youth Foundation.

Every piece produced by this group of women is a work of art. Each piece is drawn on by hand, and then painted on. A number of people work on each piece as it is passed along the production line.

The company has the most beautiful social mission, saying that they “actively recognise the pivotal role that business can play in improving the quality of life of our local people. It is our mission to positively change the lives of more of our local women and children, through much needed employment as well as increasing our support to more needy children”.
